Celebrating Dylan! (Birthday Recap)

Dylan's actual birthday was on a Tuesday, a few days after his party. So naturally we had to celebrate again! Ryan ans I decorated Dylan's room with balloons the night before while D was sleeping, he woke up on his birthday to his room completely filled with balloons! It was priceless! He absolutely LOVED it! (and so did we) We will definitely be making this a tradition!

In the morning we went to the Corvallis Sports Park and Dylan had a blast running wild and kicking the soccer balls! We packed a picnic lunch and went to Avery park, climbed on the "big train" and "dinosaur bones"! In the evening we ate pizza, opened presents and had cake(again)! I think overall it was a fun filled day!

Better late than never?!

Here's a few photos from Dylan's Birthday party we had in September! It was a warm fall day and luckily we had shade in the back yard which made for the perfect backdrop to his Farm Party! We celebrated with 20ish friends and family, what a great party! Wow, I still can't believe he's TWO!

Okay, so I guess I've been slacking just a little these past few months....okay, a lot! Here's my attempt at getting caught up and in hopes of continuing to blog more frequently this summer!

* We moved (again) in February to a house in the country! 9 acres!
* Celebrated Easter with a fantastic Brunch/Egg Hunt with family and friends! (see photos in slideshow)
* We enjoyed watching Kara compete in track, she went to State in 3 events! Took 2nd place in the 100 hurdles
* I got to see Wicked, the musical, with some friends! Awesome
* Ryan took on a 2nd job, Primerica
* Dylan is now 21 months old! Talking a ton! Feeds himself, with his left hand! LOVES cars, trucks, tractors, and motorcycles!
* I ran my first 5K with my best friend Amber in May! So much fun and I hope to continue running and go to many more races!
* Cody got sprayed by a skunk! All I can say is eeeewwwwww!!!!
* Ryan just got back from Georgia where he attended the Primerica conference for 4 days!

Anyway, that's about all I can think of right now...hopefully someone still reads this thing... :)

What a fun day! Dylan and I spent the morning with friends! 4 Mom's drinking lots of coffee and 8 Littles eating green fruits and veggies, what more could you ask for on this fine St. Patty's Day! (well some sunshine would be nice...) Anyway, I thought I'd pull up a photo of Dylan last year and compare! He has grown up SO fast! Look at those chubby cheeks he had, tall and skinny these days! Love, love, love him!!!

Christmas #1 Just the 3 of us!

Here's Dylan a few days before Christmas...he was really getting curious as to what was in those packages! He actually did much better than I thought he would do with the tree and presents. Only a few bows got taken off and one ornament got broken, I'd say that's pretty good for a curious 15 month old boy!

Christmas Eve morning. Santa visited our house a night early! Since we were going to be driving all over the valley to visit family we decided to make some special time for just the three of us! The night before Christmas Eve I (Santa) set out the stockings and Dylan's big gift, the Elmo chair!

We were SO anxious to see Dylan's reaction to the chair, and as we thought he was so excited! He ran right over to it and hopped on!

Stuffed stockings! Dylan' wasn't really that into them. He was more into the packaging of the little cars and Elmo soap.

Presents! Dylan is completely spoiled and has no idea! I think it was more fun for us to give him the gifts, and relive our childhood!

That's one happy little guy on Christmas Eve morning!

Dylan needed a little help with the 4 foot tall basketball hoop Daddy bought him! He loves playing hoops now, even though he can't reach! He claps for Daddy when he makes it ans loves to be held up so he can put in the ball! So cute!

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

So, I didn't get Christmas cards out this year. I'm planning on doing a New Years one, so this will have to do as an online Christmas card! We have been very busy this holiday season but we have enjoyed every minute of it! I know I've said this before but the holidays are so much more fun when you have kids! Even though Dylan is too little right now for some of the fun holiday traditions I still get super excited that we get to share these special times with him and watch his reactions to everything!!! Such as Santa Claus!!! Ha ha wait until you see the pics below!!!

Here's a few photos of us before we went to a Christmas party at a friends house! It was really fun to get all dressed up fancy! (Thanks Abby and Denny for hosting such a fun get together!)

I thought this photo was pretty funny because it pretty much sums up how difficult it is to get a picture of Dylan lately, he's always on the go!

We went to visit Santa in the mall, let's just say it didn't go so well...

and here's the photo we paid $13 for! It's pretty much priceless in our minds!!!

Civil War

Civil War 2010! What a fun day! Dylan and I went to Lebanon Friday night to stay with my Mom because we had to get up at 5:00 am to go to the George's so that I could watch the boys! Amber and Ryan had tickets to the game, along with my Ryan and our roommates Aaron and Hallie. (Some how I was the only one that didn't get to go...) Anyway, it was lots of fun hanging out watching the boys play together all day! My friend Jennifer and her two kids came over for lunch and to watch the game so it was a full house! Four boys and one girl, two adults! We made the most of it by having pancakes for breakfast, build your own pizza's for lunch and Beaver ice cream cones for dessert, and lots and lots of playing!

The Beavers lost to the Ducks, and the Ducks are now headed to the National Championship game!!!

Thanksgiving-better late than never!

Well Thanksgiving is long gone now and Christmas is this week so I guess I should update our blog! Here's a few photos from Thanksgiving this year. Ryan had to work so Dylan and I went to my parents house for dinner. It was a very nice small gathering with lots of good food! We had lots to be thankful for this year. Even though our situation isn't ideal, our family is healthy, we have a roof over our head thanks to wonderful friends and Ryan has a job, not the best job, but it will do for now!

It's just not Thanksgiving without football! Papa and Dylan in their rockers!

Snow day

It was so exciting to wake up to snow last Tuesday!!! Even though it barely covered the ground we still had fun playing in it! It was Dylan's first time, and he really liked it! He cried when we came back inside, but his fingers were going to freeze off!

This last picture I have to add even though it's not very good quality. (It was taken on my phone) How sweet is Dylan showing Elmo the snow?! He set him up there and was pointing all by himself! He's such a smart little guy! (He REALLY loves Elmo these days!)

Our weekend away!

Well, I finally did it, I left Dylan for the first time!!! It was a big week for me, 28th birthday, first tattoo, and left Dylan with Grandma for the whole weekend while Ryan and I left the state! I really missed him the first night and the next morning but after that it wasn't too bad! I did better than I thought I would do let's just say that! I only called twice, text my Mom about 10 times per day and requested several photo messages....that's not that bad, is it?

Anyway, Ryan and I and the house mates, Aaron and Hallie went to Seattle for the weekend!

We visited Pike's Place Market, saw the Space Needle, and just a few Starbucks!

Ryan got to see an old pal from the Peace Corp, Josh. He lives in Seattle and he hung out with us for the day/night!

We went to Sluggers to watch the Duck game Saturday afternoon. It was a really neat bar, TONS of TV's with every game imaginable on. Ryan was in Heaven!

Saturday evening we headed to The Garage to meet up with the family and friends of Kevin Boss, (NY Giant). His wife Bree reserved a private area downstairs for everyone to hang out and bowl, play pool, shuffle board, and drink of course. It was great seeing so many people there to support Kevin! We left the Garage and went to another bar and closed the place down! (2:30am) Wow, we haven't done that in a long time!!! Hallie and I even got out on the dance floor! Fun!

Sunday Morning: Game day!!! The real reason why we came to Seattle was to watch our friend Kevin play! It was my first time to a professional football game. It was a really neat experience! We ended up having really great seats, I think that makes a big difference. It was very cold, but lots of fun!

The Giants ended up beating the Seahawks 41-7!!! Kevin was an honorary captain and scored his first touchdown of the season! Way to go Kev! No pressure, he only had about 50 family members and friends there watching him! It was awesome!

Kevin was so kind to take TONS of photos and greet everyone there! I think he was a little overwhelmed but he was a good sport!

We hit the road Sunday night after the game and I couldn't wait to get back to see Dylan! I drove straight to Lebanon so I could see Dylan first thing Monday morning! I thought about waking him up when I got there but it was late! :) It was such a fun weekend spending time with friends and just doing pretty much whatever we wanted, when we wanted! Not being on a time schedule was really nice, however I wish I would have gotten a little more sleep....All in all it was a great weekend away for the both of us!

Wow, 28!!! Where has the time gone?! Feels like I just turned 21!

Well, I had a great Birthday this year! I got exactly what I wanted, to spend the day with my family! Here's the rundown of my fabulous day! Ryan let me sleep in (8am), when I got up there was a VERY yummy omelet and coffee waiting for me on the table! I got ready for the day and we went to Lebanon to get Dylan a haircut. (didn't go as smoothly as the first one!) Then drove to Corvallis and had lunch at Local Boys, yummy! Got my first tattoo!!! Yep, that's right a tattoo! I've wanted a tattoo for a very long time but was never positive of what I would like. Then I had Dylan and I knew I wanted something that had to do with him. So I decided to get his initial on my wrist! Here's a few photos...

This photo was taken right after! Doesn't it look great? I absolutely love it! It was a bit painful but not as bad as I had expected! I didn't cry, sweat or pass out! Ha ha!

After my tattoo, we then headed to Monroe to visit Cody (our dog that is being taken care of by some friends) it was SO great to see him. He seemed really happy there and has lots of kids to play with. So that makes me happy. I really miss him though and can't wait to be in a place where we can have him back!

Here is my delicious dinner that Ryan made, stuffed portebello mushroom and wine! It was sooo good! He makes the best mushrooms by just throwing things together and baking it! Yumm!

And, last but not least, my dessert that my room mate Hallie got for us! I told her I didn't really want a cake or cupcakes and this is what she brought home! It was a yummy cream cheese/chocolate tart with fruit! Perfect, it may be my new favorite dessert!

Ahhh, such a great birthday! I slept, ate, spent time with my family, ate, got a tattoo, played with my dog, ate, then ate some more! Hmmm, sounds like a good day to me! Thanks Ryan for spoiling me!

Pumpkin Patch

The pumpkin patch was so much fun this year, way different than last year! Dylan was all over the place! We went to E.Z. Orchards in Salem with our roomies Aaron and Hallie on a beautiful weekday! (No crowds of school kids). It is such a cute little family farm, I'd definitely go back!

First, a little off subject....Dylan sporting his Jaquizz jersey! So, we all know that Ryan and his family are Beaver fans, Me and my family are Duck fans. So the question before Dylan was even born was "what's he going to be???" Well, I figured I'd give in to the "like Father, like son" stereotype and let Dylan be a Beaver. At least until he goes to my parents house....Grammy has some spare Duck clothes that she changes him into as soon as he gets there! In the end, we would like to support all Oregon teams! Ha ha, however, I know Ryan doesn't feel this way!

Okay, so people have always said that kids grow up way too fast, yeah, yeah, yeah, I never thought anything of it until I became a mom! Man were they were right! Seriously, how did this happen? Seems like just yesterday he was all swaddled up smelling like a sweet new baby, napping on my chest, now he's feeding himself and walking! Oh my, they really do grow up WAY TOO FAST!!!

One positive thing about Ryan not working right now is that we have been able to spend a lot of quality time together as a family! One day we were kind of bored so we said, "hey let's go to the beach! It's Tuesday but who cares!" So we went! It was sunny and beautiful in Lincoln city Tuesday and Wednesday, then Thursday it rained. We had a very nice time just hanging out and being together. We cooked meals at the house, played cards, went to the outlets and the beach!

We treated ourselves to Mo's one day for lunch (Dylan loved the clam chowder!) then went down to the beach right below the restaurant. Dylan LOVED it, he played with his shovel and bucket, and dug in the sand with sticks. Some sand even ended up in his mouth, hmmmm, I don' think he liked it very much by the expression on his face! Ha ha!

Okay, here's a quick run down of how we spend Dylan's first Birthday!!!

Dino Birthday Party

>We Celebrated Dylan's first birthday with friends and family on Sunday September 12th! (the day before his actual birthday) It was a beautiful, sunny day. Not too warm, just perfect! We were fortunate enough to be able to have the party at Rick and Debbie George's house. (my best friends in laws) They have the PERFECT set up for gatherings, and absolutely amazing stuff for the kiddos to do and play with! A HUGE thank you goes out to them! It made an already special day that much better to be at such a beautiful home! Everyone had a great time, especially Dylan. Well, except when it was time to eat cake! He got a little overwhelmed by the "Happy Birthday song", the crowd of people hovering over him, and possibly the dino cake with big teeth...all in all it was a great day celebrating the first year of our little guy's life!

Dylan, you are loved by SO many wonderful friends and family, and you bring joy to us all each and every day! This world is a better place with you in it!

The night before Dylan's first hair cut we decided to play with his hair a bit to see just how long it was. We were able to sculpt a really nice mowhawk!!! I think he could pull it off, what do you think?!

Cody

Where we are living right now isn't really equipped for a big dog like Cody. So some good friends of ours are "dog sitting" for the time being. Bless their hearts for being willing to take on this task!!! They already have two big dogs of their own and to be willing to take in "crazy" Cody was a HUGE favor! We really appreciate how they were willing to do it without hesitation, we are going to owe them big time! Thank you SOOO much Jay and Lisa Bacus!!!

Since we don't live too far from Jay and Lisa we get to go and spend time with Cody every week, taking him on walks and playing with him! He's pretty spoiled over there so hopefully he will want to come back and live with us when the time comes! Last weekend we brought him over to our place just for the night and I think he had a good time. Dylan sure did, he loves his Cody dog! He likes to climb and lay on him, it's really sweet! We even let Cody on the bed just so he would still feel like part of our family!

Neighborhood Watch

I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not but in July Ryan, Dylan and I moved from Philomath to Salem. We went from COUNTRY life to CITY life!!! It sure has been an adventure this last year for our family, but the year is not over and I wouldn't doubt it if we have one more move this year! Ughhh! Anyway, back to the topic at hand. In our living room there is a large window that goes right down to the floor, perfect for Dylan to perch himself on and look out and see everything that is going on in the neighborhood! I just had to get some photos of this because every morning when we open the blinds he likes to look out the window and check things out! He's a very observant little guy. (like his Momma) He's perfect for neighborhood watch!

Standing Tall

About three weeks ago Dylan started standing up on his own! He randomly stands up in the middle of the room for a few seconds at a time. Usually he has something in his hands, maybe it gives him extra balance, who knows! It's really exciting for us to watch him achieving this milestone. It's hard for me to hold back my excitement as he stands up, I think I probably hold my breath so I don't distract him! Ha, ha! So far no steps, just standing, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we're chasing him around the house!

Zoo Trip #2

Ryan, Dylan and I went to the Zoo! It was kind of a spontaneous visit for us. Ryan had to be in Portland for an interview so Dylan and I decided to tag along! Dylan and I killed time by sitting in the car (he was napping) while Ryan had his interview. We then had lunch at Red Robin, yummy, then hit the zoo! It was a pretty warm day, not very many animals were out and about so it was kind of boring for us, until we took a ride on the train! Dylan absolutely loved riding on the train! He was holding on looking out over the railing the whole time! That was definitely the best part of our trip! We will be riding on the train every time we go there now!

Mr. Personality

Check this guy out! He's so full of spunk these days! It's an adventure every day around here! It's really neat to watch his BIG personality shine through and see his sense of humor! Dylan really loves being the center of attention and is pretty darn good at entertaining people.

Philomath Frolic Weekend

Okay, I'm still trying to catch up...

Philomath Frolic was the weekend of July 8th-10th. Ryan's Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins were also in town from Wyoming. It was their first time meeting Dylan! Friday night there was a house full of willing babysitters so we took advantage of that and took the night off and headed to the rodeo to meet up with friends! It was nice to have a night out without Dylan and to chat and watch some cowboys!

Saturday we watched the parade. Dylan sure does love people watching, he was sucked in!

After the parade we went to a picnic at one of Ryan's mom's friends house. They had an amazing set up! Even their own lake!! It was beautiful out there and a great place to relax and visit! It was a fun weekend overall and really nice to meet Ryan's family!

Osborne Aquatic Center

Last month when we had those REALLY hot days (100 plus degrees) Dylan and I met my sister, Kara and her boyfriend, Garrett at the pool in Corvallis to cool off! It was so much fun watching Dylan play in the water. He has no fear, he crawled right in up to his neck and probably would have kept going if we weren't there to stop him and turn him back around! He enjoyed watching all the action going on around him, he's very observant like his Mommy! And can you believe he kept that hat on?! Luckily he has been good at keeping it on this summer which makes me happy that the sun is off his precious little face!

Okay, so I realize I'm REALLY far behind on blogging! I apologize.

Now let me get you caught up...

Fourth of July! We ventured to Lebanon for a BBQ at the George's house, Grandpa and Grandma George's house that is. They have the perfect set up for big gatherings! Unfortunately Dylan's bed time came before the fireworks but he still enjoyed the daytime festivities, like trying to steal Austin's cupcake! Ha this picture cracks me up! They are all looking in different directions!

On our way home from the river house we stopped off at Mary's Peak. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! We hiked up to the top where you can see for miles! It was such a great way to end our weekend away!

Camping and Boating

It was a very busy 4th of July weekend for us! Friday we were at Green Peter with my Dad. It was Dylan's first camping trip! The weather was a bit chilly and it rained on Friday night but that didn't dampen our spirits! We played Yahtzee under the canopy and made smores! We slept in my Dad's trailer where we were nice and cozy. Saturday morning I made eggs, hash browns, and sausage for breakfast before we took a ride out on the boat. It was Dylan's first boat ride, and he was out within a few minutes! It was a quick one night camping trip but it was really nice to be outdoors and spend time with my Dad!

River House

A few weeks ago we set out to stay a few nights at Lynn Bain's river house on the Alsea River!!! Isn't this view beautiful?! It was a great getaway for us and it's only 45 minutes away from where we live.

It was so quiet and peaceful here! We sat on the back porch and sipped coffee, went on a few walks, visited Waldport, soaked in the hot tub and even watched World Cup Soccer! (yes, this place has cable and Internet!)

It was windy on the beach but that didn't stop us from playing in the sand for awhile! Dylan LOVES sand!

Fountains!

Let me just tell you I was super excited to take Dylan to the fountains on the waterfront last week in Corvallis! There are several reason's why I was looking forward to this moment; Dylan LOVES the water and I knew he would have a blast, and finally an outdoor activity in the SUN, but most importantly, for years I have watched other Mom's with their kids at those fountains and I dreamed of the day that I could bring my own child!!! That day finally came last Tuesday when a bunch of my girlfriends and our kids had a picnic and watched the kids play in the water!!! What a great way to celebrate Jessye's birthday, and the arrival of summer! I know it may sound cheesy, water fountain, really? But it was a big deal to me to finally be at this point in my life that I had looked forward to for so long! It was a great "Mom" moment, and I'm glad that Dylan loved it just as much as I did. I can't wait to go back many more times this summer!

I have a video of Dylan but I can't seem to get it to work, I'll keep trying...

Anyway, thank you Leslie for organizing this outing, and Jessye I hope you had a great Birthday!

Black Butte

Dylan and I got to tag along with Daddy to Black Butte for a few days! Ryan's friend Clay works there and can get free golf for himself and a guest. Needless to say they took full advantage of that perk, they ended up playing 72 holes of golf in three days! Crazy!!! Dylan and I just hung out in our room, went on a few walks, and swung on the swings! It was a nice relaxing getaway after all the partying we did the weekend before. I had never been to Black Butte, it is beautiful! I would love to go back when it's a little warmer!

Graduation Party #2

Sunday June 13th we celebrated Ryan's accomplishment of receiving his Master's Degree in Public Policy from Oregon State University!!! We are all SOOO proud of him!

Family and friends came out to our place in the country for a BBQ. It was nice and sunny outside again which makes everything so much more fun! Ryan manned the grill while others chatted and played ladder golf! (my new favorite game) It was the perfect setting; family, friends and food!!! A big thanks to Ryan's mom and my mom for your help with the food, everything was delicious!

Like I said before we are so proud of both of the graduates but I am especially proud of Ryan. He has worked really hard the last two years to get this accomplished while at the same time being a wonderful boyfriend and father! I am very proud of you babe! CONGRATS!!!!

You're probably thinking, now what's he going to do? Well....Ryan has applied for a few jobs and is continuing to look for opportunities! I will keep you posted as soon as something comes along!

Graduation Party #1

Saturday June 12th was the Oregon State University Graduation! Ryan and Erin (Ryan's brother Eric's girlfriend) were both graduates this year! So we had to celebrate. He began with a party for Erin after graduation on Saturday at a park in Philomath. It was a very warm sunny day and it was so nice to finally be outside to enjoy the fresh air with friends and family!

9 Months

Oh my, Dylan is 9 months old now! I get SO sad when I think that my baby is going to be a year old soon! Hmmm I need to think about a theme for his Birthday party...

Here's the stats:
*Total tooth count= 2, bottom front teeth
*Crawling!!! He is fast let me tell ya!
*Pulling himself up on everything, he even scales the sliding glass door
*Favorite words/sounds=Dada, Mama, Mim, Crazy Laugh, Squishy Face and recently he started growling...
*He is just beginning to wave bye bye
*Table food= favorites are bananas, and avocados. He loves all veggies and fruit, especially watermelon, he likes pasta, pancakes, french toast, and cheese. He will eat pretty much anything we put in front of him! Which makes mama happy that he's not a picky eater!!!
* At his 9 month check he weighed 17 pounds 14 ounces and was 28.5 inches tall. Healthy boy!

Strawberry Festival

Dylan and I ventured over to 'ol Lebanon a few weeks ago for Strawberry Festival Weekend!

Friday I had a hair appointment. I LOVE getting my hair done. I always have but these days it's extra nice to just sit there for a few hours and do absolutely nothing!! (I'll show a pic in another post, stay tuned!)

Saturday Dylan and I had a nice breakfast at my parents house, then headed out to watch the parade with some friends that I don't get to see very often!! Dylan really enjoyed it, but got scared when a big truck came by honking its horn.

Saturday evening Ryan came to town and we got to experience the Willamette Speedway! ha ha! I have lived in Lebanon my entire life and had never been to that dirt track! I listened to those cars roar every summer but never knew what it looked like inside! Well now I do, and let me tell you I wasn't missing much! It was kinda fun but VERY dirty! At least I can say I've been now!

The series finale of Lost is on tonight!!! This makes us very sad and excited at the same time. How will it end? What will happen to the Island, and Jack, Kate, Sawyer....the list of questions goes on and on!

I had never seen this show until last winter. Ryan was into it and wanted me to be also so we started from the beginning and watched every single episode in order to catch up with this season! I was hooked after just a few episodes and now I can't believe it is ending! I guess we will have to find a new series to be crazy about!

Farewell LOST, we will miss you!

There are so many fun things to do around the Corvallis/Philomath area when it's nice out and we got to do a few of those fun things last weekend. It makes me so excited for Summer! However, now it's back to being cold and rainy, booo!

Here's the recap:

Friday Dylan and I had lunch outside on the deck then played in the grass! Saturday Dylan myself and my mom went to the Saturday market in Corvallis, shopped around downtown, ate lunch at Block 15 and even had some gelato! (Ryan was at the golf course!) Saturday evening we went to the park and Ryan played sand volleyball with some friends while Dylan, Cody and I went on a walk! Sunday Ryan Dylan and I went to the OSU Beaver Baseball game! It was Ryan and Dylan's first time! I don't have any photos but it was fun. Ryan's brother Eric and his girlfriend Erin met us there then afterwards we went to Yogurt Extreme, I was in Heaven, you have to go there! YUMM!

Okay, so is it just me or does he look like such a big boy in this photo?! He is growing and changing rapidly right before my eyes! SLOW DOWN!!! Yes that's drool on his sweatshirt, he drools A LOT these days! But it's okay because it's on his Beaver sweatshirt, ha ha, just kidding!

Dylan is now on the move! He is crawling all over the place, and he's pretty quick! He also has one tooth on the bottom that popped through last week, the same week that he started crawling and began drinking from his sippy cup all by himself! I'm telling you he's on fast forward these days! I'm trying to take pictures as fast as I can so I can remember all these milestones as they go flying by! It's so much fun watching him but so sad at the same time! I'll need to start thinking about his first birthday soon.....! Oh no i may need a tissue, just the thought that my baby will be one year old brings me to tears!

Oregon Zoo

It was $2 Tuesday at the Oregon Zoo so Dylan, my Mom and I along with a group of Moms from Church went up to Portland for the day. It seemed as if every other Mom and a few schools had the same idea! It was packed but it was still fun! Dylan really didn't have any idea what was going on but he did pay a little attention to the fish and the monkeys! It was a bit chilly so we kept him bundled up in his stroller, he never took a nap because he was busy watching everyone around him but he was still in a great mood! ( I am truly lucky to have such a happy boy!) It was lights out as soon as we got back in the car! It was lots of fun spending the day with my Mom and all the other ladies from church. We need to plan things like that more often!

Last Swim Lesson

Dylan's last swimming lesson was on Ryan's birthday so all three of us headed to Lebanon to play in the pool! Daddy took the day off from school and got to swim with Dylan for the first time!

Then Mommy got in too and we all participated in the lesson! It was fun to have all three of us in there and Dylan got to swim back and forth between us! During each class he was such a good boy, he had fun playing and floating, he even started kicking his feet and doing a doggie paddle! He never even cried when he got dunked! Dylan received a certificate for completing his parent tot swim class! I think he's ready for lots of swimming this summer!

My first Mother's Day

This year was my first Mother's day! All I had asked for was for Ryan, Dylan and I to spend the entire day together. Oh and Cody too! Since Ryan has been so busy finishing up school we haven't had very much family time together so that's what I wanted! And that's what I got! Here's the rundown of my WONDERFUL Mother's Day: we headed in to downtown Corvallis and ate lunch at American Dream Pizza, we sat out front at the picnic table and watched all the families walking around downtown. Cody was with us and he was such a good boy, he just laid down and relaxed while we ate our salad and pizza! Then we headed down the street to the Toy Factory where I picked out my gift, the Ergo baby carrier! I have been eyeballing these for months, thanks Ryan! Next we walked further down the street to the dog park where we let Cody loose, he was so excited he hardly knew what to do, there were lots of dogs there and he just ran circles around all of them! Then we walked back up the waterfront to our car and went to Purple Moon for some smoothies, yummy! Next was a walk at Bald Hill, I had never been there before and I love it plus I got to try out my Ergo! We didn't walk all the way to the top because it started to sprinkle but we will definitely go back there again and go all the way to the top! Then since it was close to 5:00 and we were planning on going to church we had to find a place to put Cody since we didn't have time to take him all the way home. We were able to leave him in Abby and Denny's back yard while we went to Dox. Thanks guys for letting Cody hang out in your big beautiful backyard! I hope he didn't leave you any "presents"! :) So to top the day off we went to church but didn't quite make it through the whole thing because it was Dylan's dinner/bed time and he got fidgety. Man, after all that we were pooped! Thank you Ryan for planning such a wonderful day for our family and for making me feel so special, I love you very much! It was one of the best days I've had in a very long time! Hopefully this summer we will have more days like that!

On a side note:
The last eight months have been the best months of my life! There's nothing like being a Mom and getting to hold your baby and just be in awe of what a wonderful gift he truly is! I am so thankful! I always dreamed of becoming a Mom and now that I am I have to say that it's better than I ever could have imagined! I LOVE you so so so much Dylan! Thank you for making all my dreams come true.

Cirque de Soliei

I'm a little behind on blogging! Sorry we've been VERY busy!

Ryan's birthday was on April 29th and his parents and I pitched in and bought tickets to for the two of us to go watch Kooza in Portland. It was AMAZING!!! I would definitely recommend it to everyone! Our seats were in the second row, we could see all the detail of their makeup and even the sweat dripping off their foreheads! Sometimes it was so intense MY palms were sweating, it's incredible what the performers are capable of! Their concentration and athletic ability is breathtaking! It was a great evening for both of us since we haven't really had a date night since Dylan was born, we needed that! After the show we went out to dinner then headed home. It was the longest we had ever left Dylan(10hours)and we missed him but we knew he was in good hands! Now we would love to go watch a Cirque show in Vegas, maybe a summer trip....ha I'm dreaming but that would be fun!

Reverse

Well I guess we can say Dylan is so close to crawling... He has figured out how to get on his hands and knees and crawl BACKWARDS! It's pretty funny to watch him get so excited and happy that he's figured out how do this, but then he only goes in reverse. He sometimes gets frustrated because he wants the toy in front of him and can't quite figure out how to go get it! He can scoot on his tummy in all directions and roll every which way so I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before his officially crawling in the forward motion! Time to baby proof EVERYTHING!

I'm just so proud of my little sis Kara that I wanted to share this with all of you! I stole this photo from the paper but this was taken at her meet against South Albany on Wednesday. She took first place in the 100 High Hurdles, 300 Low Hurdles, 400 Relay , and the 1,600 Relay!!!

Yep, that's my little sis Kara, she's only a sophomore at Lebanon High School. So far this season she is doing awsome at all her events. We are all very proud of her! Good job Kara, keep up the hard work! (She will be turning 16 in just a few weeks, YIKES!) :) Love you Sis!

Hoppy Easter!

We hope everyone had a great Easter weekend! We sure did! It started Saturday when we went to Ryan's parents for our first yummy dinner! We watched Dylan play with his goodies and Grandma and Grandpa even got to feed Dylan his dinner! We stayed the night at their house so we would be closer to church Sunday morning. Dylan was perfect during the service, all the other kiddos fell asleep but not Dylan, he didn't want to miss a thing! It was lights out as soon as he hit his car seat though! Then we came back to Lebanon and went to my parents house for another delicious meal! It was a great weekend visiting with family, and getting to see friends at church that we haven't seen in awhile!

Each holiday gets more and more fun with Dylan, as you can see! Ryan thought these ears were silly but I think they look so adorable on him!

Swimming Lessons!

Last night Dylan had his first swimming lesson!
He did so well! (I knew he would!)

He was an excellent "floater", he floated on his tummy and his back no problem!

Oh and here's a photo taken right after "THE DUNK". Okay, so we were singing a little song and at the end we were supposed to dunk the babies! I got too nervous and chickened out! Then Ryan said, "just do it!!!" and so I did. Dylan was just fine, and so was I.

We had some free time to just float around and play!

We will be taking lessons here in Lebanon on Tuesday and Thursday for the next five weeks! I'm hoping that we can get into another class in Corvallis soon after this one is over!

We're Moving!!!

WHAT!?

That's right, we're moving! In less than 30 days we will be all packed and outta here! We are embarking on a new adventure to go live in the coun-tray! Yee Haw! Well kinda...we will be moving to the outskirts of Philomath to live with our friends Zack and Susan on 10 acres. It will be a great opportunity for us to save A TON of money over the next few months. Hopefully enough money so that WHEN Ryan gets a job we will be able to get our own place, maybe we can even buy a four door car!!! It's a great house for all of us, the first floor has the kitchen, dining room , living room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. Then there is a "basement like" living area downstairs with two bedrooms, a bathroom and a large living room. That will be our area! It's pretty much ideal for our situation, when Dylan and I get up at 7 in the morning we won't have to disturb our house mates! Also, they have two dogs so Cody will be in heaven!

It's a big change for me since I've never lived in the country before and because I've grown pretty comfortable in little 'ol Lebanon but it will be a good experience for all of us! It's only TEMPORARY! I have to keep telling myself that. I get nervous about change sometimes but I know it always works out in the end!

We have lots to do!! Clean, pack, organize, ugh I better go get busy!!!

Spring Break

We took a trip to the beach a for a few days during Spring break with friends Zack and Susan. When we arrived on Tuesday it was and sunny, hooray for the SUN!!! We had a great time hanging out at the house Tuesday evening, the guys even made us dinner. Fish, crab legs, rice and coleslaw! Now if we can just keep that trend when we get home that would be great!!! Wednesday was another beautiful day, we went out to breakfast at my favorite spot, Little Sambos, they have the best pancakes I've ever eaten!!! After breakfast we split up, the guys hit the casino and the girls (and Dylan) went shopping at the outlet mall, then we met back up and went for a walk on the beach! Dylan had soooo much fun playing in the sand. I couldn't get over how cute he was sitting there digging a little hole! Wednesday night was the ladies turn to make dinner, tacos! Wednesday night we lounged around and played games, drank wine and watched a movie. That night it began to pour down rain and was very windy, we were all thankful for the two days of nice weather that we were able to enjoy! It's always a nice treat to get away for a few days and just enjoy good company!!! Ahhhh!

Happy St. Patty's Day Everyone!!!

A day in the life of a six month old...

Our baby is SIX months old!!! I can't believe it! The last month and a half has been full of changes: eating baby food, sitting up, "talking", playing in the jumper, and most recently a sippy cup!!! Dylan's six month check went really good, Height- 26.5 in. Weight- 16lbs 8.5oz. we don't go back until NINE months! Ahhh it will be here before we know it! Dylan is such a fun loving boy, he smiles, laughs, and is such a joy to be around! We are truly blessed!

In the next few weeks we will be staring parent/tot swimming lessons! It will be interesting to see how it goes, Dylan loves the bath so hopefully he will enjoy the swimming pool too! Also, our family will be headed to the portrait studio for Dylan's six month photos this Friday. I'm hoping to get some good ones of him sitting up and a "Springy" family photo.

Oh and our family caught the bug AGAIN! Dylan ended up with another ear infection, booo! We are on the mend though and looking forward to Spring!

Lincoln City

The last weekend of February we headed to the Oregon coast!!! Ryan, Dylan and I had a GREAT weekend spending time with our friends Kevin and Bree Boss, and a few of their family members. Dylan had a lot of fun too, and he was such a good boy, he LOVED all the attention from everyone. Throughout the weekend we played Wii, and ping pong, put together a 500 piece puzzle, watched the Olympics, went shopping, visited with Ryan's two aunts, ate yummy food, drank wine and soaked in the hot tub! It was wonderful, I wish we could do that once a month!!!

The beaches were closed on Saturday due to the tsunami advisory, a result of the Chile earthquake. Nothing exciting happened and the beaches were open on Sunday so we were able to take Dylan to see the ocean for the first time!!! We dipped his little tootsies in the sand and surf! It was lots of fun, and I couldn't help but think of how much fun it will be when he can run around and play in the sand. That day will be here before we know it, he's almost six months old!

Thanks Kevin and Bree for inviting us to share this wonderful weekend with you and your family! If only you lived closer so we could do it more often!

Feelin' Good!

We took advantage of the sunny weather we had last week! I think we were outside everyday on a walk or just hanging out. It makes me excited for Spring and Summer, it's going to be lots of fun doing activities outdoors with Dylan this year!

Dylan meets a Giant

Wednesday we had Kevin and Bree Boss over for dinner and they got to meet Mr. Dylan! Ryan and I made chicken and artichoke pizza, it was really yummy! We had a good time hanging out and trying to get Kevin warmed up to the idea of a baby! :)

Dylan is growing at such a rapid rate these days! The past few weeks he has become such a big boy! He is eating rice cereal and Gerber foods like a champ! He is just about sitting up all by himself! He is "talking" ALL the time, he says da da da da, Ryan really likes that! We brought in his jumper and he can touch the ground now, he really enjoys spinning the ball on it! I can't believe how much he has changed in a little under 6 months! It's crazy. I'm trying to take lots of pictures so we can look back at all these fun milestones!

Oh and lets not forget about this guy, Cody. We're having a dog trainer come to our house to give us some help, we just don't know what to do with him! He's a good dog for the most part, he just doesn't like to go outside anymore, or to be separated from our family. I'm convinced he has some serious separation anxiety. This all began when Dylan arrived. Hmmmm. Maybe he's jealous. Anyway, hopefully we will get some answers when the trainer observes him. A big THANK YOU to Ryan's mom for offering to foot the bill for the trainer! :) Cross your fingers for us!

Ear Infection, Camp Sherman, and Carrots, Oh my!

Wow it's been a rough couple of weeks! Our house got hit HARD with the nasty stuff that has been going around!!! Poor little Dylan ended up with a ear infection, gunky eye, cough, and lots and lots of snot! Fortunately the antibiotics have kicked in really quickly and he is doing MUCH better! This all happened right before we were headed to stay in a cabin at Camp Sherman for the Valentines Day weekend with friends Zack and Susan. We ended up going, with antibiotics and eye cream in tow. (the Dr. ok'd it first) We lounged around, ate pizza and watched a movie. We went on a quick walk on Saturday to the Head of the Metolius river, it was really neat to see the river just come up out of the ground! Then Saturday night I got hit HARD with a 103 fever! Oh man it was miserable, and lasted until Sunday, now Ryan and I are fighting sore throats, headaches and lots and lots of snot! However I feel that the end is near, thank God! Oh I am sooooo ready for summer and fresh CLEAN air!

Since Dylan is feeling just about back to normal we decided to try something new for dinner, CARROTS! He has been doing so well with the cereal we thought it was time for something with a little more flavor! He LOVED it! I can't believe my little boy is eating baby food already, I got kinda sad when I was in the store buying it. Time is just flying by, but like I've said before it's bittersweet because it's so fun to watch him learn and try new things!

Carrots went down well, we shall see how he does with the green beans, sweet potatoes and applesauce!

Rice Cereal and Bath Time

At Dylan's four month appointment our Pediatrician gave us the go-ahead to try rice cereal! I was pretty excited for this new milestone! However, we probably didn't pick the perfect time to start since Dylan had been fussy all day but I wanted to see if maybe the cereal would make him happy! Ha, yeah right! Anyway, it was fun watching him taste it then spit it right back out! At least we got some cute pics! I'm hoping to give it another try this week on a day that he's in a good mood!

Dylan LOVES bath time! I think this little guy is going to be a swimmer! We have so much fun in the tub, it's one of my favorite times of the day, plus he smells so good afterward! I use the Burts's Bees Baby Bee shampoo and body wash then follow up with the lotion! Oh it smells so yummy! Oh this summer is going to be lots of fun playing in the water!

Kara's Winter Formal

This last Saturday was my little sisters Winter Formal. She's a Sophomore this year and she went with her boyfriend, Garrett. Aren't they cute!? I spent the day with Kara and her friend Katy helping them get ready. I did their hair and makeup, (oh, mom helped too, she did the braids) it was a lot of fun! I think it's becoming a tradition that I help them get ready because I did it for them last year too! It's something that I really enjoy though, it helps me re-live my high school days! :)

I'm such a proud big sister! Kara is such a beautiful young woman, inside and out!!! (But she can stop growing up so fast! Geez, I'm starting to feel old!)

Four Months-Hands, and Drool!!!

WOW, Dylan is four months old now! Where does the time go!? He is growing up so fast, it has to stop! I cleaned out his closet the other day and I had to pack away lots of stuff that he has out grown, it makes me so sad! However, it's bittersweet because each day he becomes more and more fun. He has such a sweet, fun loving personality!!!

Four Month Stats:
14lbs
25 in. long
Size 2 Diapers
Wearing 3-6 month and 6 month clothes
Rolls over both ways from tummy, and recently rolled over to his tummy from his back!
Loves to sit up and look around with help from his Bumbo chair
Enjoys rides in the car,(thank GOD!) and in the stroller
Laughs and giggles, and "talks"-it's so cute!
Is ticklish, especially on his back and under his chin
Started sleeping in his crib for naps and bedtime
He is drooling soooo much, no teeth popping through yet.
Holds onto toys, loves ones that have lights, sounds and mirrors!
Takes a bottle, and has been "babysat" by his grandparents for a few hours while Ryan and I played volleyball.

Blazer Game

Last Sunday Ryan, Dylan and I went to a Blazer game with our friends Zack and Susan. We went to Portland early and had dinner at a Sushi joint! It was so yummy, I have been craving Sushi since the beginning of my pregnancy! It was one of those places where you just pick your plate off of the conveyor belt! It was a lot fun. After that we had time to hit up Starbucks so Susan and I could get a warm beverage. Then we were off the the Rose Garden. We were still a little early so we were able to get down close to the court and watch the players warm up. The Blazers were playing the Cavs so we were all excited to watch LeBron play!! (He's amazing, and such an entertainer!) The game started and we had to go to our seats....all the way up on the tippy top! It was still a lot of fun and Dylan did so great! I was nervous since it's so loud in there but I covered his ears and he slept through the whole first half! It was a close game but the Blazers ended up losing. LeBron had a great game which was good for Ryan's fantasy team! :) Anyway, it was another fun outing for our family!

Oh oops I forgot to blog about Christmas! I guess with all the running around doing three different Christmases then going to Sunriver for New Years I forgot to update everyone!

Let's Recap:

Christmas Eve #1: My dad's side of the family came to our house for dinner! It was potluck style so I didn't have to all the work, that worked out great! It was a little crowded, ten people in our small house! All in all it was a great time!

Christmas Eve #2: After we visited with my dad's side of the family we cleaned up and went to my mom's house to stay the night! Even though they live in the same town it was fun doing a sleep over and being there first thing in the morning to open presents and have a nice big breakfast!

Even Cody got to come and celebrate Christmas with us! Ryan wasn't crazy about his Christmas flannel pajama bottoms but I informed him that he better get used to it because it was a new tradition for all of us to wear new pj's to bed Christmas Eve!

Christmas Day #2

We went to Philomath and celebrated with Ryan's family. Unfortunately we didn't take a single picture out there!! Darn! Anyway, it was a lot of fun opening tons of presents having a delicious dinner, and playing games. Dylan was having so much fun he didn't want to go to bed so he stayed up until 11:30pm that night! I think he was afraid he would miss something! We stayed the night out there and played some Wii in the morning before we headed home to recover from all the festivities!!

It was a wonderful holiday season this year. We are so lucky to be close to family and friends that we get to share it with!!! Love you all!

Christmas is so much more fun when you have a kid! I can't wait until nest year when Dylan is into the paper and bows, and maybe the toys!

Someone call 911!!!

One chilly Saturday morning Ryan, Dylan, Cody, and I set out for a brisk walk around the neighborhood. We bundled the little guy up and slapped the leash on Cody and we were off! Little did we know that on this walk we would have to call 911 from our cell phone!!!

We spotted a pony/mini horse!!! (Ryan thinks it was a pony, I think it was a mini horse) It was on the loose and chomping on grass in an empty lot on Joy Street! We think we recognized the four legged animal and thought it belonged to some people about a block away. Ryan said, "I'll call 911". I was confused as to why he would call 911 about a mini horse on the loose but I said, "okay?".

Below is the conversations Ryan had... I hope you find the humor in this because we thought it was pretty darn hilarious!!!

Dispatcher: "911, What is your emergency?"
Ryan: "There is a pony on Joy Street"
Dispatcher: "Is that in Lebanon?"
Ryan: "Yes"
Dispatcher: "Let me connect you with Lebanon Police Dept."
..........
Lebanon Dispatcher: "911 What is your emergency?"
Ryan: "There is a pony on Joy Street"
Lebanon Dispatcher: "Oh, we just received a call about someone who was missing their pony, let me give you their phone number."
Ryan: "Okay"

Missing Pony Owner: "hello"
Ryan: "Is this Elizabeth?, I think I found your pony."
Missing Pony Owner: "Oh I don't know how he got out again! (a person in the background shouted, Is he downtown?)"
Ryan: "He is in an empty lot on Joy Street, off of South Main"
Missing Pony Owner: "I'll send someone out to get him"

Only in Lebanon will you find a pony/mini horse on the loose when you set out for a walk on a Saturday morning!!!

One Proud Mama!

I'm so proud I just have to share this with EVERYONE!!!!

One of my favorite blogs is Mama Notes. (you can find the link under "Favorite Blogs" on the left side of my page.) A few weeks ago she announced that she was having a Christmas photo contest and asked people to send in Christmas photos of their kids. Of course I believe Dylan is the cutest baby ever, but all moms think their own baby is the cutest! So, I submitted a photo of Dylan to see if he could compete with all the other babies out there in Blog Land! Guess what, turns out he IS one of the cutest babies ever! He was chosen as one of Samantha's top five!!! I'm such a proud mommy! I feel so blessed to have such a beautiful and fun baby boy! Everyday with him is such an incredible journey, and I wouldn't change it for the world!!! I love, love, love my baby boy! Great job Dylan, you make mommy so proud!

Storybook Land and other Christmas activities!

We've been having lots of fun doing Christmasy things! We got our Christmas tree about a week ago, we went to the old Walmart parking lot and picked it out. Maybe next year we will be more adventurous and go out and cut one down, but when you have a three month old and it's 30 degrees outside a quick trip down the road is best! BRRRR!!! This year I loaded the tree with white lights and Dylan loves starring at them, not to mention the silver ball that he is staring at in these pictures! It was so funny trying to get his picture in front of the tree but he was completely ignoring me and starring at that ball!! Anyway, like I mentioned above we had some really cold weather for about a week, it was freezing! Then to top it off I was supposed to go to the coast with some girlfriends last weekend but the freezing rain came on Friday and it canceled that trip. Major bummer but better safe than sorry! So, Ryan and I ordered pizza, stayed in and began watching the first season of Lost. I've never seen the show so we are trying to get caught up on all the seasons so that when the final season begins in 2010 we can watch it. So far it's been really good and I think I'm hooked! Sunday we went to Storybook Land in Albany with the George's. It was fun watching Hayden and Austin look at all the decorations and lights. I can't wait for next year when Dylan will be able to run around with them! The boys got their picture taken with Santa, Dylan was sound asleep but it's still a cute picture! We went back to the George's house for dinner and made Christmas sugar cookies, Hayden did a very good job decorating them for us! :) We also attempted to take the boys' picture by the tree. Amber bought them all matching pj's. Notice I say "attempted", it had been a long day and we couldn't get them to cooperate all at the same time! We are going to do a re-take later this week! :)

Oh what a fun time of year this is! Especially when you have a child. Even though Dylan is too small to remember his first Christmas, it is definitely a Christmas to remember for us as new parents!

Playtime

We have had lots of fun introducing new toys and activities to Dylan lately! He is very good at holding his head up now so are able to play and explore all kinds of new things! The activity mat is good for tummy time, I can't believe how good he is at holding up his upper body now! He's getting so strong! We also got out the bouncer even though he's a tad bit too small for it. I had to put a pillow under his feet so that he could touch! I'm sure that the bouncer will be a lot of fun for him in the months to come!

Civil War

It was a fun evening at our house last night! We had some friends over to watch the Civil War, Beavers vs the Ducks! We had nachos with all the toppings, and Amber's OSU cookies for dessert. It was mostly a Beaver crowd but there were one and a half ducks! :) Dylan was half and half, Ducks on top (must have been good luck) Beavers on bottom! It was a great game, a back and fourth nail biter! However the Ducks ended up the winners of the 2009 Civil War!!! GOOOO DUCKS!!! Here are some pics from the night!

Two Months Old

This little teddy bear is two months old, can you believe it!! Today we bundled him up and went in for his two month check. All is well with our little man, here's the stats: 11 lbs. 10 oz, and 23 in. long! He had to have three shots and an oral medicine, it was pretty sad watching him go from happy one second then so sad the next. He cried, I did not. However, he bounced back really quick and was fast asleep by the time we left the Dr.'s office!

We are so blessed to have this sweet little boy! We love him more and more every day! He's such a happy baby, he wakes up with a smile on his face almost every morning. Probably because he is well rested, he's been sleeping five to six hours straight at night, in his bassinet I might add! During the day he has become more interested in sounds and lights! He loves when I make kissy noises, he coos and smiles. It makes my heart melt! I'm so excited to get Christmas lights up, he will be so happy to stare at them all day! Oh Dylan you are so much fun!!! Love you!!!
